Financial Aid
To be considered for any type of financial aid, domestic students are required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than UCSB's deadline of March 2.
Highly qualified candidates will be invited to interview with the CCSP faculty in January 2009. After the interview process the CCSP faculty can nominate some students for campus fellowships. The final decision on the awarding of campus fellowships is made by a campus fellowship committee, usually by late February.
Over the past seven years, 37 of the 76 students admitted to the program received four- or five-year centrally administered fellowships that provide a stipend and cover fees and health insurance, and may also include years as GSR's or TA's. In addition, we have had two students enter with APA pre-doctoral fellowships.
Students who are not awarded a centrally administered fellowship may be eligible for some support through Block Grant funds, faculty research grants, Teaching Assistantships from the GGSE or departments on campus such as Women's Studies and Asian American Studies, or other types of grants (e.g., grants from the U.C. Linguistic Minority Research Institute).
Financial support information is provided through the Graduate Division on their Financial Center at www.graddiv.ucsb.edu/financial/.
