Requirements for the Education & Applied Psychology Minor
The Minor requires a minimum of 18 upper division quarter units with a grade of C, P or better. Students can take up to 5 units Pass/No Pass. Five units can be taken for Independent Study (Education 199 or Education 199R). Because the number of units for courses are subject to change and some courses have variable units, the number of units applied to the minor will be the number of units appearing for a course on a student's transcript.
Substitution Policy:
Community College and other lower division courses may NOT be used as a substitution for any minor course.
Six upper division quarter units can be transferred from another college or university besides UCSB if the units are approved by the course instructor and faculty advisor in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. There is no limit on how many units can be applied from courses at UCSB, if approved.
Three Core Education courses including one practicum are required. The remaining units for the Minor can be selected from the course Electives.
Students will choose a track to follow for their minor in Education and Applied Psychology: the Educational Studies Track, the Teacher Preparation (TEP) Track or the Applied Psychology: Counseling, Clinical, School Psychology (CCSP) Track. Each track specifies the required Core courses and Electives for that track
