Tania Israel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University and a Masters degree in Human Sexuality Education and a B.A. in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Israel is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Past-President of the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP), recipient of a five-year career development grant from the National Institute of Mental Health, and recipient the SCP Section for the Advancement of Women 2011 Woman of the Year Award and the SCP Section for LGB Awareness Early Career Award. Her scholarship focuses on interventions to support the mental health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals and communities; privilege and oppression; intersections among gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation; and social justice.
